Several Romano-British inscribed stones were found in Adel, alongside some Anglo-Saxon stones that were found amongst the church foundations in 1864 when it was being refurbished. Some of these stones are now displayed in Leeds City Museum.
York Gate Garden is one acre of fine garden design. York Gate Garden was once a private family garden but in 1994 was bequeathed to the charity Perennial and is now open to the public.
